This gives it a fresh perfume and a delicate fruity taste, making it ideal for seasoning all types of fresh vegetables. In 1919 young Giuseppe Calvi, born into a family of farmers and olive growers in Oneglia in Western Liguria, returned from the First World War and decided to begin retailing olive oil. In 1921 he partnered with his brother Paolo and established the “Fratelli Calvi” and now are in the third generation of the family, still following artisan practice.
